Cross country skiing in Southern Oregon?
Where the Siskiyous
meet the Cascades. Southern Oregon Nordic skiers are blessed with a ring of snow surrounding the Rogue Valley during winter
months.
Our normal ski season starts by early December and sometimes as early as the first week of November. Snow
cover at our usual venues starts getting thin by mid March, but skiers willing to travel to near by Crater Lake, Mt. Shasta,
or Telemark skiers interested in climbing Mt. McLaughlin and Mt. Scott extend their ski season into April, May and beyond.

BLM/SONC Groomer Report:
SONC Volunteers are grooming the Hyatt Lake BLM Campground trails.

Caution: Winter conditions are dynamic and snow conditions can change
by the hour. What was recently groomed can be drastically transformed by new snow, warming temperature, solar heat etc.

Groomed tracks
In partnership with the BLM, SONC volunteers are using a tracked Polaris ATV to pull a YTS tracksetter
and trail reconditioner to groom Hyatt Lake/Buck Prairie Nordic System trails. Thank you to the BLM for the equipment
and to Southern ONC members who contributed to the groomer fund and especially SONC members putting in the long hours operating
the grooming equipment.
