WHO ARE WE

Who Are We? We cross country skiers are a cross-section of some of the nicest people in the Rogue Valley.

Some stride and glide, some skate, some telemark. Some race and some tour. We even snowshoe. We ski backcountry and we ski groomed trails. We share a love of the outdoors during winter.

We are just about every occupation that you can think of.  Some of us are retired and some of us would like to be. Some of us are very good skiers, some of us are beginners. We help beginner become skiers.

We range in age from under 18 to over 80. We are single, married, widowed, parents and grandparents. Some of us have children who ski with us.

We share a common love of Nordic skiing and the silent sports of winter. And we even raft and bike in the summer.

WHERE WE SKI (MAPS)

Members ski the full spectrum of ski venues:

We ski groomed and track-set trails:

Mt. Shasta Nordic

Diamond Lake's Northern Exposure Trails

and coming soon, Southern ONC/BLM track-set trails in the Hyatt Lake area.

Members ski wild snow, putting on climbing skins to ascend the untracked slopes of Brown Mountain, the Mt. Ashland backside areas, Mt. Bailey and even Mt. Scott and Mt. McLaughlin.

Much of our local skiing follows "blue diamond" Nordic trail systems that are maintained (brushed and marked) by ski club volnteers and skier track set.  Skier set tracks are those made by skiing and packing fresh snow the old-fashion way, by skiing.

Some near by skier track set venues include (Maps prepared by ONC member John Fertig):
